About

Welcome to LearnToForge.com! I’m ForgeMaster Ben, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for blacksmithing and knife making with you.

My Journey into Blacksmithing

My love affair with metal began at the age of 15 in the quaint town of Ironwood Village, USA. Growing up, I spent countless hours in my father’s workshop, captivated by the dance of sparks and the rhythmic clang of hammer on anvil. My father, a renowned blacksmith in his own right, took me under his wing and ignited a passion that would shape the rest of my life.

Under his mentorship, I learned the foundations of traditional forging techniques. Eager to expand my knowledge, I pursued formal education at the American Blacksmithing Institute, where I completed a certified program that deepened my understanding of metallurgy and advanced forging methods.

Three Decades of Craftsmanship

With over 30 years of experience, I’ve dedicated my life to mastering the art of blacksmithing and knife making. My specialties include:

  • Traditional Forging Techniques: Honoring age-old methods to create pieces that stand the test of time.
  • Damascus Steel Artistry: Crafting intricate patterns and layers that make each blade a unique work of art.
  • Custom Knife Making: Designing and forging knives that blend functionality with personal expression.
  • Antique Metalwork Restoration: Breathing new life into cherished heirlooms and historical pieces.

Philosophy and Values

Craftsmanship

I believe that every piece of metal holds endless possibilities. By melding traditional techniques with innovative approaches, I strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible while respecting the rich history of the craft.

Education

Sharing knowledge is at the heart of my mission. I’m passionate about mentoring aspiring blacksmiths and fostering a community where learning and creativity flourish.

Sustainability

Respect for the environment is integral to my work. I prioritize using recycled materials and sustainable practices to reduce waste and honor the resources we have.

Community Engagement

Ironwood Village isn’t just where I live—it’s a community that inspires me every day. I actively participate in local craft fairs and workshops, connecting with fellow enthusiasts and supporting local artisans.

A Personal Touch

When I’m not in the forge, you might find me hiking through the woods, woodworking, or adding to my collection of vintage tools. My family—my wonderful spouse and two curious kids—often join me in these adventures. And of course, there’s Anvil, my loyal dog who never misses a day in the workshop, providing companionship and the occasional distraction.
